Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was first founded at Howard University in 1913 by 22 Black women. Their main purpose is to “provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world,” (www.deltasigmatheta.org). The Mighty Mu chapter of the University of Pittsburgh was established on November 21, 1921, by seven women: Eileen Springfield Clark, Elbertha Davis, Gladys Greene, Dorothy Lewis, Marie MacNeal, Edwina Primas, and Rose Willis. Some significant events in the Mighty Mu chapter include the Lip Sync Competition and the Steel City Step Show.
