Billy Knight was on the Pitt Men's Basketball team from 1971-1974. He scored 1,731 points and is one of three players in Pitt history to average at least 20 points per game in 3 different seasons. With Knight's performance in the 1973-74 season, Pitt went 25-4 and advanced to the 1974 NCAA Tournament's East Regional Final, the farthest any Pitt team had advanced in the tournament. After his career at Pitt, Billy Knight went on to play 11 seasons for the ABA and NBA on teams such as the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs. In three of those seasons, he averaged more than 20 points per game. Knight had his number 34 jersey retired in 1989 and was inducted into the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
