Ruben Brown played for the Pitt football team on the offensive line from 1991 to 1994. Despite beginning his college career as a defensive line prospect, he transitioned to offense as a redshirt freshman and quickly established himself as a standout player. Brown earned recognition as a three-time All-Big East selection and, in his senior year, received first-team All-America honors. In the 1995 NFL Draft, Brown was chosen by the Buffalo Bills in the first round, 14th overall. He excelled as an offensive guard in the NFL, earning a remarkable eight consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 1996 to 2003. After his tenure with the Bills, Brown spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears from 2004 to 2007. During his time in Chicago, he played a pivotal role in the team's Super Bowl appearance in 2006. Brown's contributions to the game were further recognized when he was named to Buffalo's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 2009. Brown was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015 and in the Pitt Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.
