Description

McRae was a standout track athlete during his time at Pitt from 1984 to 1988. He achieved remarkable success, earning seven first-team All-America honors and clinching four NCAA titles. McRae's dominance was evident in his three consecutive NCAA indoor national championships in the 55 meters, coupled with his triumph in the 1986 NCAA outdoor national championship in the 100 meters. Throughout his collegiate career, he consistently excelled, garnering All-American status multiple times in both indoor and outdoor events. His achievements extended beyond college competitions, as he secured the gold medal in the 100 meters at the 1987 Pan American Games. McRae's speed was exceptional, as demonstrated by his breaking of Carl Lewis' 55-meter indoor world record in 1986 and his setting of NCAA and American records in the 60-meter dash in 1987. McRae was inducted into the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019.
