Jerome Lane

Title

Jerome Lane

Description

Jerome Lane played for the Pitt Men's Basketball team from 1985-88 and remains one of the most popular players in Pitt history. It all started his sophomore year when he became the smallest player in 30 years to lead the NCAA rebounding (13.5 avg.) and he also led the Big East in rebounds from 1986-88. Lane was immortalized for his tomahawk dunk against Providence, which shattered a backboard at Pitt's Fitzgerald Field House. Along with center Charles Smith, Lane led Pitt to consecutive Big East titles, 1987 and 1988, and NCAA tournament berths. As a two-time All-American, Lane finished his college career with 1,217 points and 970 rebounds. After his time at Pitt, he was drafted by the Denver Nuggets and later played for the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
