Curtis Martin played for the Pitt Football team from 1991-1994 and rushed for a total of 2,643 yards. The main highlight of his collegiate career was when Martin rushed for 251 yards against the Texas Longhorns, setting a Big East single-game rushing record. Martin was also a first-team All-Big East running back after rushing for 1,075 yards in 1993. After his time at Pitt, Martin was drafted to play for the New England Patriots before joining the New York Jets in 1998. When he retired, he ranked fourth all-time among NFL rushers with 14,101 yards. He was named a Pro Bowler five times and an All-Pro three times. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012, and his speech is still considered to be one of the most memorable ever delivered. He was inducted into the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020.
